MISSION:  Financial support for graduating secondary students to remain in school and complete three years of preparatory school, Prepa. The goal is to reduce the large number of students who do not complete Prepa, putting them at a severe disadvantage for jobs and income.

Don Bosco Schools on five continents are administered by the Salesian religious order but they are not primarily Christian or Catholic and a religious vocation is optional.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES:  

Five-hundred children and youth attend the MCAJ A.C. computer-based learning centers every week. Armed with 50 computers and 4 tutors, each child learns through completing projects using Microsoft productivity tools, learning math and science in Khan Academy, learning programming languages, and using internet searches for general knowledge. Priority is given to helping and encouraging the children to continue their education through primary school, middle school, high school and beyond.

SECOND PROJECT: Learn the advantages of combining solar panels and agriculture on shared land. MCAJ A.C. supports an agrivoltaic experimental station at the Universidad Tecnológica del Sur del Estado de Morelos.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES:

The Tashirat Orphanage is located within the mountains of Tepoztlán, Mexico, in the state of Morelos. We are a home for both girls and boys, who have suffered some form of abuse, mistreatment, abandonment or have special needs, who do not have the possibility of being adopted or reintegrated into their biological families. Our population capacity is between 25 and 35, depending on the cases and the care they require. Through educational, therapeutic, and recreational programs, we aim to provide them with life skills and enhance their personal development, working on their overall physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Each child is assigned to a caregiver in a shared home with five to ten other children, fostering strong bonds and providing them with a genuine family experience. We have our own primary school incorporated with the SEP (Mexican Ministry of Public Education), tailored to the individual needs of the children, including those with learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, or behavioral challenges. Our bilingual staff assist children in developing practical skills and provide training in various trades. For children with disabilities, we continue to provide them with a permanent home after they turn 18, instead of transferring them to other institutions.
