DAY OF THE DEAD, CUERNAVACA, 2023

Dia de los Muertos is celebrated all over Mexico, in public places as well as private homes. Restaurants and businesses often mount ofrendas (altars with photos of the deceased, flowers, and sweet breads to welcome the spirits of the dead who return for one night each year. Cuernavaca Morelos offered a lavish celebration in the city this year with a parade, ofrendas, and concerts while the residents decorated the graves of their lost loved ones with flowers and passed the night in vigil over the tombs.

In the city center, the streets were decorated with flowers and an enormous Katrina reigned over the Cortes Palace.

In private homes and restaurants, the ofrendas will remain up for several days in remembrance of the deceased and in celebration of the festival.
